Guardian Surgical announces supplier agreement with Royal College of SurgeonsOctober 15th, 2015
Disposable and reusable surgical textile manufacturer and processor Guardian Surgical has signed a partnership deal with The Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS) to become the organisation’s official supplier of gowns.
The company, which offers an extensive range of drapes, gowns and tray wraps for use in all types of surgery, has agreed to donate single and multi-use gowns to the RCS.
This is expected to include fluid proof garments for specialist arthroscopic courses, specially packaged gowns for the purpose of demonstrating sterile gowning techniques on foundation trainee courses and the supply of a number of sterile premium gowns for use on external training modules, as well as a supply of utility drapes.
The agreement also covers free of charge sterile processing of Guardian Surgical multi-use products, which will play an important part in helping the RCS reduce its clinical waste costs.
Richard O’Brien, Managing Director for Guardian Surgical, comments: “The RCS is an esteemed establishment dedicated to advancing surgical care, developing policy and guidance, and carrying out projects to improve surgical care. The work it carries out is instrumental in improving the expertise and knowledge of trainees to help develop future generations of skilled surgeons.
“Training in the correct use of surgical textiles and the importance of sterile gowning procedures is just one part of this, but it plays a vital role in helping to improve standards of patient safety by reducing the risk of healthcare-associated infections, so we are delighted to be working in partnership with the organisation.”
Francine Alexander, Director of Education at the RCS, adds: “As a professional membership organisation and a registered charity our partnerships with suppliers are essential when it comes to helping us continue to deliver the high quality of training and education we are renowned for.
Through our agreement with Guardian Surgical we expect to reduce the amount we currently spend on clinical waste costs through greater use of multi-use surgical textiles. “We hope this relationship continues for many years to come.”
